Malden, Missouri, is a wonderful place to live and work! With numerous restaurants, banks, florists, salons and small businesses, our workforce is strong and diverse. The city-owned Board of Public Works supplies electric, water and sewer services. The Board of Public Works provides electric service at one of the lowest rate structures in southern Missouri. In addition, the city owns an electrical power generating facility for emergencies and during peak power usage periods. A "power line loop system" feeds the entire city with electricity from two completely separate service lines. In the event of an emergency that caused one service line system to go down the second system would automatically go on line to pick up the load.
The city owns and operates two wastewater treatment facilities. Also operated by the city is its water supply, distribution, and storage systems. There are six water supply wells capable of producing over four million gallons of potable water per day. Natural gas is supplied by Liberty Utilities.
